thanx for really rocking up our wedding!! we're still hearing raves from our guests asking who was that band, they were amazing!! And this is coming from both young and "not so young" people!! it was great walking down to lulei hee'manti and coming in to dance at Rhythm Messiahs (we're what they were waiting a long time for). It was kinda annoying having to take pictures while hearing everyone in the background partying like banshees, so try to do your pictures before the wedding.
All in all, it was truly an awesome wedding experience, and we owe a lot of thanks to Moe and Avraham Rosenblum for really spicing it up. if we get married again next year, we know who to call!! meir and shifra
P.S. if you want any more info, call us at 347-225-5511.

Just got your latest release, Kedem, and we were just blown away by it, especially "The Flood". You sound so much like the music we used to listen to & love: Dylan, Guthrie, Dire Straits. The musicals sounds, the emotional singing & the meaningful lyrics truly touch our souls.
We want you to know that we owe our being observant Jews today primarily to Rabbi Shlomo Porter & you. We went to the Jewish Festival years ago when it was held at Druid Hill Park ("It was in another lifetime, one of toil and blood" as Dylan once said). We stopped at the Etz Chaim booth to find out about some classes & we listened to you perform. Your music made us think that it was possible to start new lives as frum Jews without giving up everything of our old lives, some of which (like meaningful music & poetry) we thought had universal value. Rabbi Porter & Etz Chaim helped confirm this belief and guided us through the necessary changes.
Keep up the good work & please perform in Baltimore again soon! We could bring our children to see you now!

Music and lyrics are really great. Jerusalem is calling is really deep. You should play Bar Yochai more often. Kedem is excellent. Nachon Libi is great, Mekol m'lamdai is moving, Nachamu nachamu ami is melodramatic, al tirah is soul reaching They're all good. In person is even better than on record. Keep on writing, singing, and performing... you can't go wrong. Looking forward to seeing you at Aish Kodesh in Woodmere, this Motzai Shabbos. Hope you play more of your Kedem songs, looking forward to hearing some of them live for the first time. Alex

Back in '77 or early '78, you did a concert in a school auditorium in Philadelphia, and man! I think I blew about 6 months savings on 3 of your records. Still have them, dragged them out a few weeks ago. My 6 year old daughter wants to have a party, so she and the little frumlets at her day school can bop to it. Amazing stuff. Some of the songs (Tzadik katamar yifrach, for example) are the best meditating music I've ever found, other than the Rebbe's Shabbas Musaf Hu Elokeinu. I remember one of the highlights of the trip was going up on the roof in Yerushalayim with some "not really members of the band" when I was there on the Gratz College Ulpan in '78. One of the big highlights of the trip. Thanks for everything.

My family and I greatly enjoyed the show this past Sunday night at Beth Tfiloh. It brought back some very good memories. In 1975, when I was a teenager, not particularly observant, I spent the summer in Israel with USY. Several times, after Shabbos we went to the now famous Diaspora Yeshiva Band concerts. Seeing a frum "rock" band made a great impression on me, and in some ways contributed to my becoming a Ba'al T'shuva several years later. Attending the concert with my family (minus 1 daughter studying in seminary in Israel) was a real thrill for me. We ALL enjoyed the evening, and hope that concerts to benefit victims of terror will not be neccessary in the future. Keep sending out the positive message through your music. We live on Taney Rd, and attend Agudah Greenspring. Perhaps our paths will cross one Shabbos....

Dear all, I am looking for a friend of mine. We met by chance in Jerusalem in 2001. Unfortunately I have lost his address and have moved myself:
His name ist also Abraham Rosenblum, he is American, but we met in Jerusalem. He has been studying in a Yeshiva in New York and in Jerusalem. He has many cildren, his oldest son is called Moshe.
Abrahm plays the violine, often just on the street, and he has been writing one of the most wonderful (unpublished) books that I have ever been reading: It is on Kabbala and physics, and it's a beautiful text that might very well become very famous once. I want him to publish this book and
I would be very happy if someone can help me finding his current address.
Thank so much! Claudia

I am extremely impressed by the sound and spirit of your music...the authentic rock'n'roll I grew up on (from my parents, I'm a generation late) with the Jewish music I have come to love. Isn't it something that someone who was born the year Land was made is ordering it over the internet? :) Bracha V'hatzlacha, JML

I just received my Chanuka present to myself - copies of the Diaspora Collection & Land of Our Fathers CD's. I have to say that the choice of tracks was very good. Especially the large selection from Gate of Return. Of course I'd have preferred individually remastered versions of the original albums, but "Collection" is still very much worthwhile. I'm just wondering why "Rock Mitoch Ahava" was left out - I know it's part of a long medley, but it would have been a good listen for those who enjoy the new version on Jerusalem is Calling, but who may not have heard the original.
I'm also wondering if there are any concert bootlegs, basement tapes or unreleased tracks out there. I was listening to Sgt. Peppers the other day, and it reminded me of the version of "With a Little Help From Hashem" that you used to do at your Melava Malka concerts. I'd love to hear that one again...

THE MOST INSPIRATIONAL AND SOULFUL JEWISH ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME! Avraham, I still remember when you guys performed at the Young Israel of Forest Hills in 1980, a concert that was coordinated by Rabbi Mutty Grunberg, youth director at the time. And I've been to many more of your concerts over the years- from the Sela concerts at the Israel Center to your concerts in Los Angeles and N.Y.C. Your music has kept me emotionally connected to yiddishkeit throughout the years. Thank you so much!
P.S. When can we expect another CD?
Stay well!

I first got turned on to DYB in 1980 at the Melave Malka on Har Zion when I was here for my Bar Mitzva. Later, during my year here in Yeshiva, I caught some sessions at the Israel Center when you called yourselves Sela.
You produced some of the best music over the years. I bought all the cassettes. They helped me through some tough times. Every time I'm at the shore, I can't help but hear "Kamayim l'yam michasim" in the back of my head.
Unfortunately, almost all the cassettes have been borrowed over the years or just wore out. Do you have any plans to re-release the early albums? The 2-CD set is a good start, but it's missing too much. We need the "complete collection". To expedite things, why not sell the mp3's directly from this site as they become available?
I hope to see you back soon in Eretz Avoteinu. In the meantime, keep on rockin'.

My parents always played your music when I was little, my syblings and I get so excited when hearing your music we can't help but sing along. My sister heard you playing at the Jewish Expo and said your voice sounded beautiful. There something pure about your singing, one can really feel the meaning behind the words you sing. Thanx for bringing inspiring and fun music to Jewish homes. Keep it up Uncle Abe!

I gotta ask my parents if they still have that album lying around, cuz I never knew that wuz u guys who sang it. "Land of my Fathers" is now one of my favorite albums......I esp. love "Lo Ya'reiu". You guys really epitomize Jewish music from the Neshama with a western flavor to it. Keep on rocking, and I hope to see y'all in Israel with the coming of the moshiach soon (may it be tomorrow), if not before then.

I am so happy to see this great website and think about the Band. You were such a big part of my life, from the time I first heard you in 1979 when I was touring Israel, through the many, many motza'ei shabbatot I came to see you in the old and new facilities on Mt. Zion and at the Israel Center, and during several incarnations under different names. I never stopped listening to your albums, which have a profound effect on me. I am sure I also owe you a great debt for your influence on the later band members (like Menachem Herman, whose brilliant performance was a major highlight of my wedding) and the many who watched and learned from you. I like the new album. It has a real up to date feel. Your best since "Land of our Fathers". Very eclectic group of songs although it could use a little more straightforward (rock or freilach) i.e. "V'neemar","Hu Yiphtach", even "Mi Sheasa". I guess I'm being picky. I have the original album with "Rak Mitoch Ahava". You did a great job remaking it. Best song on the album (in an upset) is "Changing now". Awesome intro and dare I say autobiographical? Anyway , continued success and I hope you'll get a shot to make another similar style album.

Avraham,
First of all let me thank you once again for the wonderful concert you gave in Beit Shemesh last week. It really helped charge my batteries and I've been on a high ever since. Hopefully your new CD that I purchased will help prolong the feeling for awhile.
I have a favor to ask. My company in Jerusalem (150 employees) is having a pre-Purim party tomorrow, Thursday. A few of us that play instruments are getting together to form a no frills, ad hoc band ( I play acoustic guitar). I plan on playing some Diaspora stuff and may even try out one or two from your new album. One song that I would especially like to play is Hafachta. The only problem is that I don't have all the lyrics, which I think will go over really well with this crowd. (I often just play and sing the hebrew lines). If there is any way you could email or fax me the verses, I would be extremely grateful.
Thanks in advance for your time, effort and consideration.

Wow - what to say? It's just so cool to find this website. I only recently dug my old albums & tapes out that I hadn't listened to in years, and was blown away once again by "Land of our Fathers". What a great album - I may have to buy it on CD just to stay future-proof. Of course I'll have to buy the new one too...
Listening to these old albums brings back such wonderful vivid memories of my 2 years in Yerushalayim back in '81 - '82, with every available Motzai Shabbos spent at King David's tomb.
I hope that you'll make it to L.A. someday soon. Have you thought about setting up an email list? It would be great to be able to hear about concerts, new albums, or whatever you feel like saying to your many fans?
Oh, and Avraham, I don't think I ever properly thanked you for dropping by to see your friend Jerry Katz, when he was playing my chassana back in '88. You should have seen the looks on my friends' faces when they saw you up there playing! It definitely was one of the highlights of the day.
Anyhow, much hatzlocha in all of your endeavors - Keep up the excellent work.

Would like very much to talk to you re: a devlopment deal, our label is looking to expand into genres that reflect differing musical taste within niche' markets & between Madonna, Sandra Bernhardt & their crew, the whole jewish thing is seriously top of mind.

BH
As a Lubavitcher Bochur working in an overnight camp for not-yet-religious kids in Yalta, Ukraine, I saw an immediate need to wean my nine 11 year old campers off of their Russian rock music. Thank G-d I had J'lem is Calling, Land of Our Fathers and a few songs copied off of the Last Diaspora (sorry!). The kids loved the stuff. My bunk song (in Russian) was taken off of "Amcha Yisrael" - (the chorus words were "Grupa Daled, Tolkah Kasherna!" Bunk Daled, Only Kosher!) The effect was real, as we saw the entire bunk sahrpen its awareness of Kashrus, and of applying their knowledge towards reality. As a chanukah present this year I sent the entire bunk J'lem is Calling. As I hope (B'Ez"H)to continue working there, I will definitely bring the tape along with, and hopefully any others that you release. Kol hakavod!

I think the "UNPLUGGED" concert is a great idea. It's nice to know that for 18 bucks you can still hear some great live music. Are there going to be more "UNPLUGGED" shows in the future? How can I get you guys to come down and do an "UNPLUGGED" show for my shul?

After spending another wonderful Yom Tov with you and your family at the
Homowack, my wife and I want to wish you Htzlocho in all your endevours.
The concert Motzai yom Tov ROCKED. We hope that we were roudy enough
in the front. Thank you for playing Lo Es Avoseinu.....Each night I
read the Haggadah, I sang it softly to myself at the table. When are
you guys going to release the last Diaspora on CD? While I am on the
subject, it is absolutely impossible to find any old Diaspora albums
besides land of our fathers, last diaspora and the reunion. OK, it was
VERY easy to find the new album. I can't even find the video in stores
anymore. We have searched many Judaica stores searching for LPs of your
old material. A few stores had records left over from the "olden" days
when people bought records and they couldn't find any old copies no matter
how much I offered them. So, when are you rereleasing the first few albums??
Anyway, I have to get back to my class....Thank You for many hours of wonderful music.
We are always looking forward to more. How about a definitive live album, where you perform
all of your catalogue live?
OK....One can always dream!
L'hit,
Yehudah and Shani
